Best tips for a Stress-Free Christmas
1. Favourite Christmas Recipes
RODI: Christmas is the perfect time to gather loved ones around the table. Among the recipes you shared with us, which are your favourites for this season?
And which dish is an unmissable staple at your Christmas celebrations?
Teresa Rebelo: The Puff Pastry Stars with Goat Cheese and Caramelised Onion, published last December, has become a classic in my home. This delicious recipe is easy to make and brings a festive touch to the dinner table.
The Spinach and Codfish Cannelloni are a great alternative to traditional cod dishes, ideal for those looking to serve something different, especially for younger guests.
At my home, one dish we cannot live without is ‘Covered Cod’, a recipe my paternal grandmother passed down to my mother. It is always a favourite, alongside other Christmas classics.
2. DIY Ideas for Gifts and Decorations
RODI: Homemade gifts or hand-crafted decorations always have a special touch. Do you have any simple and creative suggestions you love making this time of year? Any ideas you shared on Instagram or your blog that could inspire us?
Teresa Rebelo: I love gifting homemade treats: biscuits, jars of lemon curd, nut and chocolate truffles. I also enjoy going the extra mile with wrapping! The 2024 Christmas recipe I created for RODI Home combines both aspects.
Besides the Christmas Cookies with DIY cracker wraps, here are two more ideas for this Christmas: my Olive Oil and Port Wine Biscuits (absolutely addictive!) and festive Napkin Rings made from materials that usually end up in the recycling bin. 😉
3. Favourite RODI Accessories for Christmas and Daily Routine in the Kitchen
RODI: Planning the Christmas table can be challenging. So many things are happening simultaneously. Which RODI accessories make all the difference in your kitchen during this time?
Teresa Rebelo: As you know, the kitchen is my favourite room. Borrowing the title of a Nigella Lawson book, I truly believe the kitchen is the ‘heart of the home’. But for it to be that welcoming and inviting space, it needs to be well-equipped. That includes a modern and functional sink and practical accessories that make cooking — and cleaning up — enjoyable.
I love the RODI Box Lux 50 Copper sink for its minimalist yet sophisticated design. Since I prefer sinks without built-in drainers, I am equally impressed with the practicality of the Curl Drainer — it rolls and unrolls in the blink of an eye. 😉
4. Tips for a Stress-Free Christmas
RODI: In your opinion, what are the essential steps to plan and organise a stress-free Christmas? Do you have any tricks to simplify meal prep or time management during this busy period?
Teresa Rebelo: I am not the most organised person, and I always feel a little stressed around this time of year. I tend to think I can do and cook more than time allows. But I have improved over the years.
Making shopping and to-do lists helps a lot, as does delegating tasks to other family members. I also try to wake up earlier in the days leading up to Christmas. Those quiet, early mornings are when I can organise my thoughts and be more productive!
